Virgin Money to Sponsor London Marathon until 2020

As Virgin Money Giving celebrates its sixth birthday, it announces the continuation of London Marathon sponsorship until the 40th marathon. With over £344 million – £417 million including Gift Aid – donated through the fundraising website since 2009, charities are better off with an estimated extra £12.8 million going to causes compared to the same amount raised on Just Giving.

It was the London Marathon that inspired the creation of the not-for-profit fundraising website, propelled by the Virgin mindset that fundraising could be done better. And by taking no profit from donations and providing charities with their Gift Aid, Virgin Money Giving has improved fundraising by making more of the money raised by individuals available to their chosen charity.

We are proud to support this record-breaking fundraising feat through Virgin Money Giving, which has just hit its sixth birthday. Virgin Money Giving doesn’t take a penny in profit and that means so much more money goes directly on to the charities. – Jayne-Anne Gadhia, CEO of Virgin Money

First becoming sponsors in 2010, Virgin money Giving had an ambitious target of raising over £250 million over five years. With this record being surpassed a year early and with a further £54.1 million raised in 2015, the total has now totted up to a staggering £315 million.

Virgin Money Giving provides an efficient and secure fundraising platform. Fundraisers can personalise pages, send out email alerts and manage their events easily, whilst the charities have full access to reports on the efforts made and can even benefit from the free seminars held by Virgin Money Giving to help maximise their activities.
