This Friday is the 29th birthday of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC)‘s incredible service, ChildLine, which provides advice and support to children and young people 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, both online and by phone on a range of subjects from family problems, exam stress and bullying to self-harm, depression and suicide. Last year trained ChildLine counsellors held over 285,000 counselling sessions with children as the demand for the service continues to grow.
Virgin Money chose NSPCC as our corporate partner for 2015/2016, meaning that it is also the official charity of the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon. As part of this partnership, Virgin Money Stores, Lounges and offices up and down the country are getting involved to fundraise for the NSPCC’s ChildLine service.
To celebrate the birthday, a large number of our Stores and Lounges are celebrating in style with a Tea and Cake Party to fundraise for this wonderful cause and, whether you’re a customer or not, you’re invited to celebrate with us.
Did you know currently a child contacts the NSPCC’s ChildLine service every 25 seconds? Some are going through the toughest times of their lives, and with demand rising, currently ChildLine can only be there for 3 out of every 4 children who need support. Every £4 raised will enable another child’s call to ChildLine to be answered, and every £1,600 raised could recruit, train and provide ongoing support for a volunteer counsellor who will go on to speak to hundreds of children.
