Strive2Thrive interview: Annelise Hamilton

This week we are taking a look at the experiences of those who have attended one of the Virgin Money Strive2Thrive events. Annelise Hamilton attended a recent event when starting her job search to gain some valuable knowledge about kicking off her career.

Annelise attended the event because she was in the midst of job hunting and knew that Strive2Thrive would help her make informed decisions and guide her in her job search. She attended the event, held at Virgin Money’s offices in Gosforth, as part of South Tyneside Training and Enterprise Network (STTEN). South Tyneside TEN is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee whose mission is to support the social and economic regeneration of South Tyneside, providing support to unemployed residents of South Tyneside to improve their employment prospects.

Annelise had never met some of the group from South Tyneside TEN but through a series of ice breaking exercises got to know the people around her table and also showed the real Annelise. One of the hosts of the event was Virgin Money’s Beth Orford who explained to the group the difference between a growth and fixed mind set, something Annelise had never heard of before and also discussed the mind sets and emotions people grow through when they can’t find work.

After attending the Virgin Money Strive2Thrive event I feel far more confident in my ability to find a job and have a far greater understanding of the emotions linked to being successful or not in my applications. I thought the whole event was great and far more relaxed than I initially thought. It was different, fun but most importantly informative. If you get the chance to attend one of these events do not hesitate to say yes!
