Local charities in London, Sheffield and Glasgow win Virgin Money London Marathon places

Virgin Money Lounges in London, Sheffield and Glasgow teamed up with Virgin Money Giving to offer local charities the opportunity to win 12 sought-after places in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon. The successful charities received four places each which could give each charity an estimated £8,000 in funds raised by their runners.

The Virgin Money Lounge teams are currently working with the winning charities to help them make the most of the opportunity. They’ll be hosting fundraising events for the runners, their friends and families, as well as the charities’ supporters in 2017.

Who are the winning charities?

Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) supports over 3,400 visually impaired people in Sheffield providing opportunity, support, friendship and services to help them achieve whatever they want to do. Donations raised will be used to continue offering services like funding fun summer trips to help people who often find it difficult to get out.

cashRadio Clyde Cash for Kids is Scotland’s longest running children’s broadcast charity. They support disadvantaged and disabled children living in poverty in Glasgow and the West of Scotland. Every penny fundraised will be reinvested to support children living in poverty throughout the year. A big focus is on Summer and Christmas holidays when children are unlikely to receive a hot meal until the return to school. This summer the charity sent over 90 children to their first Cash for Kids Summer Camp which was a residential break and a new experience to most of the children who had never left their home town.
