On 2 February 2017, Virgin Money’s Corporate Charity Of The Year Heads Together are supporting “Time to Talk Day”; a day to encourage starting a conversation around mental health.
Too many people with mental health problems are made to feel isolated, ashamed and in some cases worthless. Staring a conversation about mental health does not need to be difficult or scary and can start with a simple “Fancy a cuppa?” or “How are you today?” Letting someone know you are there for them can be the greatest thing you can do for someone who is struggling with mental health issues. Time to Talk Day is centred around about starting a conversation, but it can often be the listening element that is key; as human beings we all want to be seen, listened to and loved.
Heads Together are delighted to support “Time To Talk Day” as it re-enforces their goal to start the conversation around mental health. At the heart of Heads Together is their hope that no-one should be afraid to ask for help, and no-one should worry about knowing how to help. A conversation about mental health can change, and save, lives. Being open about mental health and ready to listen can make a huge difference.
Dan and Rich share their story in this short video about the day they started their conversation and the change that it brought about.
