Doc Fest Sheffield

‘Virgin Money Shorts’ competition

Sheffield Doc FestThe 2017 edition of Sheffield Doc/Fest returns to the city in June, to celebrate the art and business of documentary and all non-fiction visual storytelling. To mark the UK’s premier documentary festival coming back to Sheffield, home of our newest Virgin Money Lounge, we’re launching our own short film competition, ‘Virgin Money Shorts’ – giving the general public the chance to win cash prizes.

Calling all amateur film makers

If you’re a dab hand at film making in your spare time, or have always fancied having a go at creating your own film – now’s your chance to shine. The theme for our short film competition is ‘Curiosity’. At Virgin Money, we’re always keen to explore and challenge. Sir Richard Branson and his Virgin empire have always celebrated the curious and the disruptive.

In spirit with the Virgin ethos, filmmakers can be as creative and diverse as they want to be. We would like your ‘Curious’ film entry to really make us think and challenge our perceptions. It could be a bit cheeky. It could be fun. But it should definitely leave a lasting impression to be in with a chance of a place in the final.

Your film entry can be as short as you like, but must be under 10 minutes in length. You can even team up with a friend or colleague to submit a joint entry. The winning entry will be awarded £1000 and two runners up will receive £500 each.

We will hold a special screening night at our Virgin Money Sheffield Lounge on 12 June where the top ten finalists will be invited to screen their entry to an audience and the winner and runners up will be announced.
