Virgin Money are delighted to announce we will be working in partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust as our corporate charity of the year, with an aim to raise over £1.5 million. As Virgin Money is the lead sponsor of the London Marathon, this makes Teenage Cancer Trust the official charity partner for the event in 2018.
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people by bringing them together to be treated in special places designed just for them. They have built 28 specialist units across every major NHS cancer hospital, which are designed to feel more like a home than a hospital ward.
Almost half of young people with cancer are not treated these specialist units. Instead, they are cared for in hospitals where they might never meet another young person with cancer. This is a scary and lonely experience. Teenage Cancer Trust are building a wider Nursing & Support Service within the NHS to help all young people, wherever they receive treatment.
Teenage Cancer Trust were voted in as the Virgin Money Charity of the Year by our colleagues and we are looking forward to working with them over the next year. We are already beginning to hear about our colleagues who are planning their own fundraising events and activities to help raise funds to support the charity.
We will be keeping you up to date on the work we do together but in the meantime have a look at the Teenage Cancer Trust Official website.
