Divided into 13 teams the schools sold hand drawn pictures of Alnwick Castle (which sold out), bird feeders, dog treats, bug houses, plants (which were grown in school), doughnuts, dream-catchers and hand decorated plant pots making a combined profit of £707.67.
One of the teachers from Year Six said:
The project has been fantastic for building team work skills and helping the children learn about the value of money. They have learnt a lot about choosing the correct product for the place of sale, appropriate pricing and promotion
Alongside the Make £5 Grow Programme, Alnwick Gardens ran a competition to find the Best Dressed Stall, Best Salesmanship, Most Innovative Idea and Most Profit Made. The winners were:
- Best dressed stall – Gardening Gang from Josephine Butler
- Best Salesmanship – Aloysius Entrepreneurs from St Aloysius
- Most Innovative Idea – Dazzling Dreamcatchers from Amberley Primary
- Most Profit – Dipp ‘n’ Donuts from Amberley Primary…a whopping 406% profit
