2020 will be the 40th year of the London Marathon and our 10th year working with this remarkable race. To mark these anniversaries, we want to honour the original aims of the event by bringing sport to the forefront of the celebration. The event founders, the late Chris Brasher and John Disley, both believed in sport’s capacity to inspire people to have fun and to provide happiness as well as a sense of achievement. They saw the event as a great way to unite mankind, raise money for the world of sports and prove that ‘Britain is best’ when it comes to major events.
We are looking for a passionate charity partner to work with from May 2019 until April 2020 which share the belief in sport set out by Brasher and Disley. We want to hear from charities who encourage, support and develop people’s engagement through sport as well as those using sport to make a lasting difference in the world. Your charity may even want to try something different and adopt a sporting initiative for the 12 month period. So if your charity is focussed around sport or uses sport as a method to benefit the lives of your service users, we want to hear from you.
It’s important that as the Official Charity of the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon, your project or initiative is financially sustainable and will deliver long term benefits. On becoming our Charity partner, you will have the full weight of Virgin Money and its colleagues behind you. You’ll receive 250 guaranteed places for the marathon in 2020, advertising space in the official Marathon magazines and exclusive use of the title “Official Charity” in the 12 month run up to race… pun intended. It’s a huge opportunity for everyone but most importantly, those who will benefit from the funds raised and from the spotlight focusing on your charity.
So if your charity is one that aligns with the aims for the 2020 London Marathon why not send an email to email@example.com and request an entry form.
