Artist Dan Llywelyn Hall has sat with most of the subjects over the past six years. \nThe exhibition coincides with the celebration of The Queen’s 90th birthday 9-15 May\, 2016. \nAround 20 portraits will be displayed between two venues: Virgin Money London Lounges: Haymarket & Eagle Place during opening hours. The public are invited to attend the exhibitions. \nA diverse range of sitters include: Her Majesty the Queen\, Dame Barbara Windsor\, Michael Palin\, Dr John Cooper Clarke\, Henry Allingham\, Amy Winehouse\, Lily Cole\, Douglas Slocombe\, Louis de Bernieres\, Sir Roy Strong\, Karl Johnson\, Will Self\, Griff Rhys Jones\, Rowan Williams. ALL previously unseen and all from sittings. \nThere will be a programme of ticketed events scheduled over the week. \nTo commemorate the anniversary of the end of WW1 both the War Memorials Trust and the Victoria Cross Trust will be the charitable beneficiaries of the exhibition. These two charities are the principal organisations responsible for the upkeep of WW1 war graves and public monuments/memorials. \nLimited edition prints from the portraits will be available for sale during the exhibition. \nThe Great Britons Gala\n6-7.30pm Eagle Place then 7.30 -9pm Haymarket \nA celebration evening with a private viewing of the full exhibition with unveilings\, introductions and a meet and greet with some of the sitters\, the artist and representatives of the two charities. Music to accompany and refreshments served. \nStarting with a drinks reception at One Eagle Place Virgin Lounge\, you can expect to be greeted by a previously unseen portrait of Her Majesty that will be displayed in honour of her 90th birthday celebrations. Following this\, you will be guided by the artist for an informal tour of the Eagle Place display and hear about the process. \nAt 7.30 all guests will be invited to make their way to the Haymarket lounge for the second half of the evening as view the remaining portraits and hear from the charities and their ambitions beyond the centenary year of WW1.
