Great Britons – Portraits of celebrated Britons
Coinciding with HMQ’s 90th birthday and the centenary commemorations of WW1 supporting War Memorial Trust and Victoria Cross Trust.
Great Britons is an exhibition of painted portraits from a selection of public figures in British life. Artist Dan Llywelyn Hall has sat with most of the subjects over the past six years.
The exhibition coincides with the celebration of The Queen’s 90th birthday 9-15 May, 2016.
Around 20 portraits will be displayed between two venues: Virgin Money London Lounges: Haymarket & Eagle Place during opening hours. The public are invited to attend the exhibitions.
A diverse range of sitters include: Her Majesty the Queen, Dame Barbara Windsor, Michael Palin, Dr John Cooper Clarke, Henry Allingham, Amy Winehouse, Lily Cole, Douglas Slocombe, Louis de Bernieres, Sir Roy Strong, Karl Johnson, Will Self, Griff Rhys Jones, Rowan Williams. ALL previously unseen and all from sittings.
There will be a programme of ticketed events scheduled over the week.
To commemorate the anniversary of the end of WW1 both the War Memorials Trust and the Victoria Cross Trust will be the charitable beneficiaries of the exhibition. These two charities are the principal organisations responsible for the upkeep of WW1 war graves and public monuments/memorials.
Limited edition prints from the portraits will be available for sale during the exhibition.

The first day of Great Britons will commence with an unveiling of one if the most recent portraits by a special guest and then begin with a Q&A hosted by Victoria Parkinson with a chat concerning the theme of the exhibition and an introduction into the role of the two charities.
